Why I built this
I built this site as a personal tribute to the greatest band ever. As a fan since Live at Fillmore East, I’ve searched many sites for information about ABB over the years. I’ve always thought how great it would be to find everything in one place. Now that I’m retired, I’ve had time to build it.
99% of my T-shirts have either a mushroom or a peach. Hardly a day goes by when I don’t listen to one of the 72 ABB CD’s I have, or one of the dozen LPs, or hundreds of MP3’s. I even had to buy a reel-to-reel because I was lucky enough to buy an original reel tape of a tune they recorded at Capricorn but never released. I have two ABB tattoos, my wife was not too impressed but my daughter liked them.
This is a free site and has no advertising or sponsors. I’m paying all costs associated with the site. Where there are links to external sites such as Munck Music or Amazon to buy CD’s or books, I do not make any money from that sale.
Here’s a Spotify playlist of some of my fav ABB tunes. Some appear multiple times from different concerts because, as you know, they are different from concert to concert. There are a lot of live shows that are not on Spotify so I couldn’t always get my favourite version, but I think it’s a good sample, in no particular order. Hope you enjoy.
The player above plays 30-second previews unless you’re signed in to Spotify — that’s Spotify’s rule for embeds, not a fault here. Open the playlist in Spotify to hear the songs in full.
What’s here
It is an independent, curated day-by-day history of the Allman Brothers Band (1969–2014) and its members — concerts, releases, chart positions, personnel changes, honors, books, and hundreds of links to live and studio video and audio.
Curious about the numbers behind it? The stats page breaks down events by year, category, and media links across the whole archive.
Sourcing & corrections
All events listed here have been taken from reliable sources and have been cross-checked against at least one other source. In all cases I have named the primary source and given credit.
Every care has been taken to ensure links work before I upload them. As you know, however, links can change or break. So, if you find any broken links or incorrect entries, please let me know with an email to ABBArchive@hotmail.com.
A great deal of care has also been taken to credit the original source for each entry. If the credit is incorrect, please let me know, citing the correct source if possible.
Some entries include scans of tickets, posters, press ads and articles from the period, always credited, as a record of when and where things happened. This is a free, non-commercial fan project and nothing here earns money. If you hold the rights to something on this site and would rather it wasn't shown, please email me at ABBArchive@hotmail.com and I'll remove it — no argument and nothing formal required.
